Oh my goodness, it has been a while. Almost one whole month actually. It is going so fast! You know, considering my feelings at the beginning of the program. Now that its just over 2 weeks until my end date, I am actually having alot more fun…

I went to Miami!! Finally! Only took, like, a year. It rained. Like the whole day. But honestly, I saw everything I wanted to see there, and did everything I wanted to do. Except for sleep on the beach and get a tan. I didn’t go in the water either. I mean it was warm enough but I am definitely not a fan of sea water! I also saw Ami James from ‘Miami Ink’, now that was amazing…Even if he did have his head down tattooing someone’s leg.

I must say, its nice being back here in Orlando and being able to see how the Fantasyland expansion is coming along. It makes me very excited to come on ‘vaycay’ when its done! I believe this is the beasts castle, where the be our guest restaurant will be. (Quote, I “Believe”. This may not be true, its just a guess, I have done no research!)

And also, the popcorn cart I worked on alot of the time last year has turned into ‘Maurice’s amazing popping machine’! I love this, as Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films. Belle is my girl! Actually speaking of last year, I’ve been trying to pick up an ODF shift. It would be awesome if I got put in Fantasyland, my home :)

I can’t remember if I said anything about all my travel plans going pear shaped? Well they have looked right up! I am staying with a group of 7 of my friends for the extra 4 days in Orlando after the program. We booked a bargain villa house, with our own private pool :) And, my San Diego/Francisco flights are sorted, New York almost dusted! I am so excited for travelling :) I will miss my friend Lauren though, who was supposed to be coming along for the ride :(

So I have 2 weeks left. Well 2 weeks and 4 days. These next weeks are pretty booked up. A week on friday my housemates from back home will be in Orlando which I can’t wait for! Helen, who did the program last year, and is currently on the Hilton Head Island program,  came up for a couple of days about 2/3 weeks ago, and it was totally not long enough to catch up. But she is returning to Orlando! And 2 more friends, Natalie and Nathan did camp this year and will be joining the Disney fun. I get to use my Main Entrance passes for them. Free-ness!! Its also Natalies birthday during their stay so we have to make sure its a fun week ;) Also, it will be my graduation, the day before check out (which alot of people are annoyed about. That’s the last thing we want to do on our last free day!) And not to mention the shopping that is in desperate need to be done! Few!

I’ve been thinking alot about what to do next year. Part of me wants to do this whole experience again; see how it pans out next time as this year and last year have been COMPLETELY different. My boyfriend said he would love to give it a go, so it would be nice if we both ended up here for the summer. And also, try my luck working at some other part of Walt Disney World. But on the other hand, its ridiculously expensive. And it has been more difficult being away from home this time. I miss my family, my boyfriend and my friends. I miss uni too. Surprisingly. And I graduate next year. I’m not sure I’d want to miss my graduation for something I’ve done twice before. I can only graduate once :/

Its a tough one.

I will miss it alot. And the people. I’ve met some incredible people this time too.

Anyway, thanks for reading!
I’ll try and update more whithin the next few weeks =D

Happy 4th :)

Today is July 4th. The day where everyone floods into the parks, which end up being at capacity, which mean no one can move. It never fails to amaze me why people think this is a good idea. Most people come to see the fireworks, but, the best views of them are outside of the park…Boardwalk, on the beach you can see the Epcot celebrations; Polynesian resort, you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks. And its so much more relaxed :)

I was supposed to be working a 9 til 6 shift today with Mike and Sully, which is a good one as I get the night off. But I managed to develop a cold and swollen glands over night, so I called in. Probably a bad idea as that means I’m only working 20 hours this week. Booo.

Also, I’ve been having issues about travelling afterwards. My friend who I was supposed to be travelling with is no longer going so I spent the past week and half figuring out what the hell I was supposed to do, about flights as well. As I booked my San Fran to NY and NY to Man together, if I was to cancel one, I’d have to cancel them both. Brilliant. And they would have charged me another $250 on top of the cancellation. However, thank god my parents are in San Diego for 5 days and thank god 2 of my friends are staying in Orlando for an extra couple of days…Actually theres quite a few people that are going travelling afterwards. Just a heads up to those who were wondering :) So, yes, my plans now are…Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco and New York. =D I can’t wait.

AND I can finally say I’m going to Miami on Wednesday!! I’m so excited!

Anyway, Peace

Faith, trust and a little bit of Pixie dust…

Finally the sun actually has his hat on! And has for a while now. I’m slowly but surely building up a tan that resembles Nutella. Score. Actually my arms from just above my elbow down, and legs, knees down (minus my ankles and feet) are a little darker than the rest of my body; thank you very kindly WDW costuming. Oh and I forgot to mention the little triangle of skin exposed from the collar.

So I have started work. Well I’ve been working for almost 2 weeks now…I had my training with the character class before being released into the wild…

I can safely say, even though I loved QSF+B to bits, basically being a Disney World characters body guard is the most amazing job. Even though its not all glamour. I mean I know Yummy Jobs told you its alot of hours, but no way did they prepare you for a 65 hour week. It did go quick though in all fairness…

My first day was with Phineas and Ferb. Hec. Tic. And absolutely roasting. Probably not the best of places to put a fresh from the factory character attendant but hey, I also had no idea that the brothers were as big as they are in the US, so the line was huge! However, the 8 hour shift went like that.. *clicks* and the same with the rest of my working days. I have established a favourite shift. The hat. (said like ‘the head’ from Art Attack). 11 hours but moving around all day with diferent characters so super fast =D Brilliant.  Love it. Although you have to deal with lots of angry guests when you close your line so fear getting screamed at all day. Ahh the life…

Its sad to see that people don’t like their jobs. I know of a few people going home/thinking of going home/ packing to go home after 3 weeks of it. Boooo… Ask Tink for some more Pixie dust =D

Anyway, I’m actually doing something with my day off today. Can you believe I’ve been here 3 weeks and have only been to one park.ONE.!! What the hell!! So yeah…I’m off out! To the pool, see friends, a meal =D Good day.

I promise to update sooner rather than later next time :)

Have a magical day and thanks for reading,

“You’ve always been a princess to me, Minnie” – Mickey Mouse

Why hello there,

Just a swift update about the past couple of days…

First off, Traditions. Now, I don’t know why or how this was different to last years class, but it was. It seemed a lot more…Hands on I guess. And less fun. Maybe because I had done it before or maybe because it actually was more form signing/e-classes/theoretical. We did however go into the utilidors of Magic Kingdom. That was fun trying to remember which way to go and that. And I caught a glips of some of the ODF crew! Way, way in the distance…
The end of the class was awesome as always though. I got a critter…

And my name tag!!

So despite the nostalgia the day ended happy! We’ll sort of. Bria and myself were supposed to join up with the girls in Magic Kingdom for the fireworks, but the class ended late, Gemmas phone died, so we went home ate until food babies formed and then went to sleep, dreading waking up at 6am for the next days training.

That day (Saturday) was amazing though. Even though it was an early start, being in the Entertainment group certainly wakes you up. Kirk and Mike, our co-ordinators for the day were brilliant. They even made the health and safety module remotely interesting. They took us on a full tour of the entertainment are where we got to see the costume department and the cosmetology room. AMAZEBALLS! Not many people have seen Belle’s wardrobe and her make up station, but it was so cool. I did learn that if you become ‘close friends’ with a princess/prince/fairy etc you have to do your own make up and put your own wig on! And there’s me thinking they had someone do it for them. Also, I found out the Snow White cant go out in the sun just in case she gets a tan. Ha.

Speaking of tan, we got to watch the Dream Along with Mickey show, for educational training purposes ;) There I got lots of pictures and a red patch on my arm. Just my arm because we were dresses head to toe in business attire, so you can imagine how roasting we were. Feel sorry for us, or jealous. Either or :p

I got my schedule yesterday also; I have been placed in Hollywood Studios!! Off Sunday (today = pool day), in 8.30 – 4.30 everyday til Friday which is 8 -12. Easy as peas :)

Anyway I’m off to socialise!

Thanks for reading!

A Disney photographer was kind enough to snap this for us…

Hello from Orlando!

Well, I am here, settled and untanned. Honestly I was expecting to have at least a red shoulder by now, but it rained forever yesterday! However the weather today looks promising…

Anyway, I didn’t update Monday as it was pretty emotional and wasn’t really in the mood to do anything. It took me until midnight to pack and until 3 to actually get to sleep. Stress. Ful. There were fewer tears at the airport, probably because I know what happens and I know that my parents know what happens etc. And the flight was good! The tvs have been updated since I last flew with Virgin…Touch screen, wider, over 60 movies. AWESOME! And they gave out my favourite pudding. Now, I’m not a fan of chocolate desert, but if you ever get the chance try Gu. Its just…ahhh. Amaze.

Anyway, after getting my bag at the airport and dumping it on a trolly (there was no chance I was carrying that for a long period of time) security told me to take it off and wear it. I thought they were joking at first, but no, and they all got a few giggles when I looked like a turtle trying to stand. That backpack may have been the worst idea I’ve ever had. Pending.
Now I’ve got my key to Vista Way 803. My room mates are lovely. 2 Chinese, 2 French and I’m sharing a room with Bria, from Liverpool England :)

I’m gonna skip the paper work business and tell you where I’m working. It says…Entertainment. So I’m only assuming that this will be everywhere. Which is good! I’m in the same training group as the performers, so that should be interesting…

Traditions is tomorrow. I’m with a girl from 802 as well as 2 girls from my apartment. We’ve also decided to see the fireworks at MK tomorrow night after we get our main entrance passes. Waahoooo!

Oh and before I go, if anyone got an AT&T go phone last year, you may need to buy a new one this year. They expire, which I didn’t know :(

Right, pool time!!!

Heres a picture of rain (and the view from my apartment)

Thanks for reading!!

Catch yall later

“1 day, 17 hrs, 35 mins until your next flight with us…”

I’m not sure whether I’m excited, nervous, sad, happy or what. Maybe a mix of everything. I do know that I feel different from last year. For example, I was on the ball with everything, my bags were packed at least two weeks before…This time, well, I still need to tick that task off the list. I feel way too laid back considering.  There are certain people I don’t want to leave at all, too. I had my uni friends over last night for a get together along with other family and friends. It was sad, especially this morning when my friends left. Four of them will be in the US over the summer as well which is pretty cool. Three are at camp and then one is at the Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina. Were planning on meeting in Orlando for birthdays etc before we go off travelling. This will be nice. Islands of Adventure are in for a treat when we get together! I mentioned before that I am taking a rucksack instead of a suitcase, its heavy, but I can carry a lot! Hopefully looking ridiculous will actually pay off and save me a struggle whilst trekking around America.
Speaking of travelling, we booked the hostels/hotels for San Francisco and NYC!! I actually cant wait for those days to arrive. Especially NYC. I’ve been wanting to go there since I can remember. Lauren and myself were planning on going to New Orleans, but they are having a lot of trouble with the Mississippi river so those plans are on hold. So from the 19th – 25thish we are plan-less. Could work out for the better :)

After writing this I have injected a little excitement into my thoughts. I just caught a glimpse of my friend Laura’s pictures; she  also has returned for her second year and they look amazeballs! And I actually cannot wait to eat an 18″ Papa Johns pizza and drink a litre bottle of Coke. BOOM.

Anyway, back to packing I guess!

Thanks for reading!

“I do not like to repeat successes, I like to go on to other things” – Walt Disney

Since the last post, I have been thinking…I really should start doing something about packing soon. Have I though? No. Well, technically I have started; I’ve put a sleeping bag and a pair of flip flops in my HUGE backpack (travelling this time…I assume it will be slightly easier…But I’ll let you know about that at a later date). As excited as I am to go to Orlando I have zero motivation to be folding and placing neatly. But anyway, it’ll be done soon.

So my list of things I want to do/achieve this program round. I’ve had a think and I don’t think I can think of 10. Bearing in mind I am only including things I want to do in Florida, not when I go travelling. That’s a whole different story =D
Anyway, here it is…

1. Go to Miami.
Same applies as last year. I NEED TO GO AND SEE DASH AND MIAMI INK! That is all.

2. Go to a pool party.
I’m quite gutted I didn’t go to any last year. I want to meet Stitch in board shorts please :)

3. Learn to cook a dish from another country.
Chances of this are slight. But anyone who knows a good chow down and is very patient, I’m here!!

4. Conquer the Summit Plummet.
I have a fear of water slides. I don’t know why, I just do. Roller coasters I can ride all day, but this ride in particular, I have never ever done in all the times I have been to Disney World. I chickened out last year even though I didn’t even put it on my list. But I will do this, I am a machine! *Cowers*

5. Network.
I wish I did this last year but didn’t get the chance. In a perfect situation I would get to shadow the costume designers or an Imagineer for a day :)

6. Not eat Subway everyday for 3 months.

7. Pending…

8. Peniding…

9. Pending…

10. Pending…

That is all that I can think of so far but if I think of anything else, I’ll be sure to update :)

Also, my Mum mentioned something about passport photos for the embassy the other day, in case you haven’t been yet; If you can get a decent shot yourself its 60p for 6 at Asda. Just a heads up :)

Anyhoo, Thanks for reading!!
